It all begins at the quarry. Large slabs of limestone and sandstone, measuring over 3m x 2m and weighing 1500kg are shipped to Firecraft. The stone is elected for its cleanliness and consistancy. A laser-guided machine is used to cut the slabs into pre-sized blanks, using water to lubricate the high speed blade. Stonemasons use specialist hammers, chisels and bolsters to carve intricate shapes and patterns in the stone. An outline is traced in pencil onto the stone, then chiselled away with painstaking precision. Every single piece of stone is measured and graded for accuracy. A unique serial number is assigned to each individual piece, this is used to monitor and track them at every stage. When all the individual pieces of stone have been cut, they are polished by hand, using different grades of wet carborundum stone. After a third and final quality control check, each fireplace is fitted with a discreet brass hallmark, your guarantee that the most rigorous standards of craftmanship have been applied. The pieces are recorded then carefully stored until they are ready to be delivered and installed. From the quarry to your doorstep. Looking for something different? You can commission Firecraft's skilled stonemasons and designers to create the ultimate one-off fireplace. If you can picture it, they can bring it to life.
